The Macan Turbo receives a slew of newly standard features and an all-new engine. Its twin-turbo V-6 is downsized from 3.6 liters to 2.9, yet horsepower increases from 400 to 434. Porsche claims these performance updates make the 2020 Macan Turbo quicker and faster. Bolted between the Macan Turbo's front fenders is a twin-turbo 2.9-liter V-6 that develops 434 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque. It hooks up to a seven-speed automatic transmission that sends power to standard all-wheel drive. When equipped with the $1360 Sport Chrono package, we estimate the Turbo should reach the mile-per-minute mark in 3.8 seconds, nearly a full second quicker than the Macan S we previously tested. Additionally, it'll feature a standard sport-exhaust system for a burlier sound. Every model we've driven handled exceptionally well, with little body roll and tons of grip. In fact, most of the vehicles in this class have cornering grip that would have done the best sports sedans proud not that many years ago. To give the Turbo additional oomph, Porsche dipped into its engine catalogue and selected the twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V-6 also found in the Cayenne and Panamera. The engine is good for 434 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque, and it only takes a single shove of the right pedal to quantify the substantial gains of the additional 86 ponies and 46 lb-ft over the single-turbo 3.0-liter in the Macan S, and 34 hp more than what the twin-turbo 3.6-liter V-6 made in the previous Macan Turbo.
